1st Round: Online Aptitude Test
->Data matrices: The problems looked very simple initially. But as u solve u realize that it requires a lot more time than whats given to solve. this section can be attempted blindly as there is no negative marking.

->Number Series: 20 questions with a timer of 2 mins for each question. The questions were not the regular number series which we find in most of the websites. Some were tricky and some were relatively easier. But overall the difficulty level was Good.

->Quantitative:Again 20 questions and 15 mins for each question. This part was average. It had quite tough types of ques which included two or more concepts.

The main problem was because of the time constraint associated with each question. even though you would be able to solve them but before you mark your answer the timer expires. So you have to be very quick.

2nd Round: Written Communication Test

->A long passage was given and within 15 mins you have to pick out 6 sentences from the passage and write an email to a client. Be accurate. Write only that many lines that fits in the place. The salutations have to be correct and proper information should be conveyed using only those 6 sentences.
It was simple.

3rd round:Group discussion

->Each group consisted of 10 -11 members. The topic of discussion was: "Is Anna Hazare Movement sufficient for removing corruption from our country". the topic given for me was "should flexibility be provided to women at work". Be clear in your views.Either go FOR the topic or AGAINST it. "Don,t be neutral". Take one particular side. Otherwise you can be rejected. You have to speak for 2 mins at least about your opinion. Its good not to get into a fight with your members and have a healthy discussion.


4th round:Technical and HR interview together.

->This round was the simplest because they ask very simple question from your resume and are very friendly people. Be thorough with watever u write in your resume. IBM team is the most friendly recruiting team according to me. But sometimes they can confuse your thoughts a bit. But don,t worry , because that doesn,t mean that you will not be selected.
Study well the topics written in you resume and also simple C programs,the basic ones.

IBM Interview process

Its a 2days process
on first day they have taken written test and english test
2nd day followed by GD,technical and project developemnt round

1.WRITTEN TEST
Its an online test called as IPAT test each question has 2.15sec timelimit first 15 questions completely on number series only .we can clear easily if we have practise on number series after 15 question session gets close and next same pattern continues with change of questions on percentages,ratios,probability ,areas.....lot practise requires to clear this session as each question will be tricky and time taking to solve

2.ENGLISH TEST
Its jus a 15 min test they will give one paragraph from that we need to write an email to the client in jus 6lines .salutation is most important in the email writing ..if we give clear saluation we can clear the round easily . but many participants gone in this round only by doing silly mistakes like writing as thanking you as we write in letter writing ....remember its an email writing


3.GROUP DISCUSSION
In our room we are 15 participants and has given the topic ROLE OF WOMEN IN DEVELOPEMNT and has given 2min time to think the points and 15 minutes time to speak among us and given each participant one minute for summary ..
NOTE:speak confidently and fluently thast enough to clear this round .

4.TECHNICAL ROUND
This was my fav round ..HR was so friendly

HR: asked one puzzle like cut the cake into nine pieces using 3 cuts

5:PROJECT DEVELOPEMNT ROUND :
Covered topics on java in deep ,and asked my fav subject i said OS ..asked questions on it .what is assembly language.machine laguage,difference between them?,what is JVM?
about my final project?
usefulness of it?
C,C++ etc.

It was a referral off campus. The drive started with checking all d documents which we were intimated to carry along with the hall ticket.

the eligibility criteria was 65%in 10th n 12th n 70% in B tech.
Although i was already placed in another company ...getting into IBM was a dream come true. and very much like u ll ..weeks b4 ..i was scanning previous years papers.
Believe me friends ...don,t get impatient if u do not get selected in some company..its just bcoz dt was nt ur day ..u ll surely be wen it will b ur day...:))


well coming to the written...
we had a 15 mint eng langg test..we were given a paragraph..reading that we had to summarize the scenario to a client in just six sentences.

then there was aptitude test...
the test comprised of 3 sets..
1)data matrices..13 mints 15 questions.
2)number series..4 mints 10 questions..
3) mathematical reasoning .. 12 mints 10 questions..


we were made to wait for 3 hrs...

then there was gd.. groups of 8 were made n the gd started immediately..,
in my group the topic was ,solar energy or atomic energy is going to be the future energy..dont panic...in gd..just try to get n opportunity to speak ..we all first introduced ourselves...then every1 was given a chance to pseak on the topic..den d forum was open all discussed..n finally every1 gave the conclusion.one by one...

except 1 student rest all cleared....dont hesitate..dont panic..just speak without fumbling and making grammatical mistakes..expressing logical n relevant ideas...
next we waited for interview..my name was called..

hr n tech interview..
hr questions were like..introduce urself..some situation based questions... puzzles...
tech..dbms queries..basic c prog...project description...ur role in projec..
and finally ready to relocate..dts it..

we were made to sit..n finally hr came n announced our names..n gave us d eaf form..dt was d happiest moment for me...n we were told that very shortly we will have to join...BY gods grace i can call myself an IBMer.. :))

They started with announcing that cut off is 65% or 6.5 CGPA. It is a strict rule. Even my friends who has 6.49 also not eligible. So be careful regarding this.


Then they started with an online test consists of Aptitude questions and Number series questions. They gave enough time for the test.

Next there is a written communication test. They may ask to write a letter to your customer regarding any issue. Just see the pattern how to write a letter. They won,t check it. But write in a polite manner.

They selected 58 out 68 appeared.

Day1 is over.
They started GD on 2nd day at 9AM.

Then there is a Group discussion. It is not actually a GD. They ask to speak on a topic for 2 mins. Don,t worry. Speak fluently. They check communication skills.


Next round in Technical HR.
They asked what algorithm is used in Google search. Actually they too don,t know but they check your knowledge regarding searching algorithms. If they want they may take HR also.

Finally they took 35 students.

Communication is the key point and they prefer girls because it is a service based company. Be confident on whatever you say. You can definitely crack it.

Hii guys....myself Nakul S Varge I am from PICT,pune, IT specification.
IBM GBS visited our campus on 6th jan 2012.Total of 66 students are appeared for the company and the have selected 25 including me. I am going to share my complete experience with you..hope it will help you..

First off all there is a company presentation for 10-15 minutes.Then there is a english test in which they have given three paragraphs and we have to write an abstract in 7 lines only..not more than seven line. If anyone goes above seven,then marks will be deducted.so strictly follow the rule...it was so easy..best way to pickup few lines from each para and write it down.

Then there is a online aptitude test which contains only two types of questions
i) Number series : find out the missing number..we have to identify the pattern..it was so easy...just practice for 15-20 questions and you will find it very simple.

ii)Quantitative: Just read all the formulaes from R S Agrawal and just go through the solve problems..it is more than enough to crack this section. Many examples are based upon formulaes only. Very easy.

There is no sectional cutoff.

Based on this two rounds they shortlisted 39 students.


Then there is a group discussion in a group of 10 students. The topic given to my group is Print media Vs Broadcast media. They gave us 2 minuets to think and half an hour to speak. At the end of the session they gave all an opportunity to speak 2 min. i,e conclusion.

Cracking GD:

keep in mind guys in GD,first five persons are noticeable. try to speak in first five peoples and be specific. After your first sentence try to spoke within next 2 minutes,the gap between two sentences should not more than 2 minutes coz in this way u r not noticeable.

The main thing here is if all candidates are nicely spoken,they will select complete group.My group was completely selected.


Next round was technical interview.
This round is different for EnTC and Comp/IT students.

For comp/IT:

In technical section they have given three programs and we have to write code for that in any choice of language.
my programs were

i) Factorial ii)Count total number of nodes in tree ii) Insertion sort

my friends also got queries from DBMS.

Here they ask to explain the programs. Just explain the programs deeply...thats it.


And the final round was an HR. It was very easy and just for formality. In this round they will give a situation and ask u how to deal with it. They will go through your resume and ask some basic technical questions my question was JOIN in DBMS.Just keep smiling in this round. They are very friendly and dont worry if you stuck somewhere just tell them that I don,t no.they will give you another question.It is a kind of general discussion.

IBM PAPER ON 23rd MARCH AT MAHARASHTRA

I,m.......,3rd year B.E computers student from SSPM,S College Of Engg,-----. On 23rd March ,07 I got 1st chance to apper for campus interview. Being 1st chance i was quite nervous but managed somehow, and now finally I GOT PLACED IN IBM Global Sevices.It was really a dream come true.
Dear friends i,m here providing you with pattern paper we had at IBM.plz do go through it once.....it will surely help you out.

ROUND 1 :
This was an aptitude test.It was simple and easy but needs your concentration.Aptitude Test had 55 questions divided in 4 sections.

1) English Section :
In this sectin there were in all 10 ques. of which 5 were based on a given paragraph. Rest 5 were too easy ,they included filling up articles and prepositions,also synoms.you can easily get through this section.

2) Logical Aptitude :
This section had some logical ques. easy can be solved using venn diagrams.Also had some ques on blood relation ship.It was somewhat this way
(unknown values) A company manufactures juicies of different flavours like orange ,mango,pineapple,strwberry etc etc.and some conditions are given as it manufactures 4 packs of pure orange juice,7 packs of banana juice,3 packs of mixed orange and mango and so on .and u r told to find the other quantity such as ...How many pure mango packs are manufactured?
try solving it with help of venn diag.

3) Attention to Detail
This was very easy n interesting section.here some options are given and u need to identify which of them are alike and then mark your final answer.
for eg. a)XXGFXGGY b)XXGGFXGY c) XXGFXGGY d)XXFFGXXGY.
you are given answer options as 1) a & b are alike.
2) b & d are same
3) a & c are alike.
In this case answer is 3)a & c are alike.
so here u need a careful eye and good concentration.there were 4 ques of this type so this helps u app up to your score.
It also had some symbolic ques as if , 1 , is represented by , $ , and " 0 " by , * , then what is the value of $$$*$*.
somewhat like this.These are really logical and are time consuming here you need to use binary logic.

4) Computer Fundamentals:
This was a bit tough for me as i didn,t have much knowledge bout dbms but there wer some basic ques.In some ques. you,ll be given a program and u need to sort out the errors.u can mange it if you r good at technical.

That was all about the aptitude test.As we finished with it we were given a plaion answer sheet and were made to write an eassy on spot,time alloted was 15 mins.
our essay topic was: MONEY BRINGS IRRESPONSIBLITIES.
Just be clear with your views and use good english some proverbs.don,t jumble up just divide the essay in three parts.A bit of intro. then u can go for present senario your view for it and then sugesst some eg if come to your mind how can u make best of your money and lastly conlude it confirming your opinion. thats all .

Now it was a time we were curiously waiting for results.It was around 1.00 pm results were displayed finally and there i saw my name.This made me more nervous but same time excited.Then we all were made to be seated in one room were they gave us a form we were told to fill up and complete nacessary formalities.IBM coordinators are very polite and friendly they help u get through each step.

Now finally Interview round started and countdown begins.Soon I was called.I started with --plz may i come in sir.There were 12 panels each of one.The person who interviewed me was gentlemen with smile on his face.He greeted me --" hello Apeksha,have a seat".

At 1st he told me to introduce myself.I started very nicely.I tolde him my strengths n achievements.he further asked me my weakness. i answer "i,m talkative" he said in what way it,s ur weakness.i explain it.He then asked me some ques. about paper i presented as it was included in my CV.then i was questioned on my hobbies.i had told " webrowsing".then he cam,e towards TI. some ques he asked were......
Difference betn C and C++.
wat is procedure n object oriented?
wat is top down and bottm up approach?
types of inhertence?
some ques on HTML as i included in my CV.
further ques were on my HTML; project of 2nd yr i explained him throughly.
then some wer on DBMS.

Then he question me some situational as if u working in IBM with a group of ppl and u need to work with them....n so on...
He asked my" Do you know that IBM is a known as BIGBLUE?" i said"No sir,but asked hin if i could make a guess".He smilingly replied " sure!! ". Then he further continued with situational ques.and finally said" i,m truely satisfied on my side,you may wait for the results". and then was time simply to hold ur heart.and fiinal results were announced by 8.00pm.and I WAS FINALLY SELECTED !!

It was very nice experience......I wish all you friends BEST LUCK FOR YOUR FUTURE !!

(1)verbal(10q) -> simple fill in blanks with prep,articles(5q), passage(5q). passage is tough.
(2)technical(10q)-> on c(3q),java,unix windows.
(3)aptitude(15q)->its not from rs agarwal its just general type on prob,permutationse,analytical reasoning .
4)attention 2 ability
this section consist quest like any person shuld have all these qualities
1) he suld be 6 ft hieght
2)he shuld be 50 kg wieght
3) he shuld pass aptitude]
4) he suld be physically fit
-if a person satisfies all the above except 1) then he is selected as trainee
- if a person satisfies all the above except 4) then he suld go 4r test
etc i dont remember conditions exactly based on these conditions arround 5 quest were asked then..

(5)reasoning : it is also very easy .quest r on blood rels,data sufficiency,picture series,odd man,seating arrangment etc FRNS ITS VERY EASY 2 CRACK BUT TIME MANAGEMNT IS VERY IMP. Believe me pattern is very easy.

2.essay writing :is very easy it shuld not excede 200 words topic is " EXERCISE IS GUD FOR HEALTH". time given is 15 min. its immediately after written test.

3.Results were anounced at 3:00 pm n im very happy 2 be one of.. then we were asked 2 attend GD immediately n the topic given us is " ENGINEERS SHULD NOT GO ABROAD FOR JOB". Frns be careful in gd its not general its like JAMS ie they give us 3 min time n we have express our views. the results of gd were announced at 6.30pm they have shown us company profile etc. we were asked 2 attend 4r other 2 rounds next day.

4.I felt tech was very tough coz as i was frm computers back ground the quest were asked 2 me in electronics , economicsetc. not even a single quest frm computers was asked. also some general quest like " how will u introduce a computer 2 a farmer"," how will u measure the part of water filled in a bottle"

5.if were selected in tech round they say us directly 2 attend hr round else they r saying 2 leave the campus.Thank god i was selected in tech . plz go thru company profile before hr he may ask us quest like
"why only IBM" ," tell me abt company"?
hr is very easy it s completely based on resumate prepare an ex of each of ur strengths etc also they give some situations 2 us, give +ve answers . in IBM please stress on team work, innovation, leadership qualities mainly.

I dont think tht ther is sectional Cut-Off ......so dont worry abt sec cut_offs bu t better to perform all sectinons well.

2.ESSAY WRITING.(15 mins_Max 250 words)
we r given 15 mins time and the topic is "LIFE IN CAMPUS"
Be extensive and try to explore with a Broader sense...they ll look at this at the time interview so try to avoid Grammar mistakes and abstuse words.

IN OUR COLL TOTAL 310 took test and 136 cleared WRITTEN
Evening we went for GD ..15 in a group and topics mostly general like our Group was given "NON-IT students opting for IT jobs is Good or not" and indian politics,

WRITTEN TEST:

This is the new pattern of IBM. Ours is the 5th college in which this new pattern has been implemented. it contains 3 sections.

SECTION 1, some information is given in the form of matrices, with headings for rows as row1,row2 …. Etc.For columns with headings as column1,column 2…. Etc.those matrices r as follows.

Questons r as follows ( not same questions but same type)

1.if column1 , Column 4 r interchanged and row3 , row4 r interchanged and diagonal elements from top left to bottom right r written in reverse order then what is the element in row1 and column 1?

2.if Z’s in odd numbered rows r replced with 7’s and S’s in odd numbered columns r replaced with 5’s then which column elements sum equals to 9?

3.After giving similar type of conditions , what is the element left to H?



In this section they gave around 4 matrices of this type and gave some questions for each matrix.



Total No. of Questions r 15. these r multiple choice questions.5 answers were given for each question. No negative marks for this section. Time Limit is 13 minutes.



SECTION-2

All questions in this section r from number series. Total number of questions r 20.time limit is 4 minutes.these r also multiple choice questions( 5 options).Negative marking(1/4) is there for this section.



SECTION-3

Analytical type Questions . this secton is little bit tough.u must have practice to do this section.questions 12.time 15 minutes.Negative marking(1/4) is there for this section.



*** REMEMBER***

à time management is very very important. don’t waste time on questions which needs calculations. First attempt direct questions only.

à if there is no negative marking then attempt all questions.



ESSAY WRITING:

After written test immediately they will give a topic.we have to write an essay on that topic within 15 minutes in 200 to 300 words.our topic is LIFE AT CAMPUS.



GROUP DISCUSSION:

12 to 16 members in a group. time is 15 minutes.they gave us POVERTY IN INDIA.u have to speak something.otherwise u won’t go to next round.don’t give only intialisation or only conclusion.u have to be interactive throughout the session.other topics r MONEY MAKES IRRESPONSIBILITY,FOREIGN JOBS.



TECHNICAL CUM HR INTERVIEW:

Next day means on 1st july thy conducted interviews.

The persons of IBM r very cool .Most of the questions for me r of General type and HR .

What is interrupt.

Interrupt handler.

By opening a MS-WORD document if u press ‘A’, what r the different things will be happened.will this interrupt the OS or processor.

What is the turning point in ur life.

Hobbies.i said news paper reading. We discussed a lot of time regarding politics in Andhrapradesh.



à if u score good marks in written test,Essay writing,GD then ur interview will be shortened. So,be cool and confident ,then easily u can get.

Try to attempt at least 5 correctly. Be careful as there is negative marking. Don,t make blind guess. One thing that you should remember is TIME MANAGEMENT. We were told to write an essay on "Politicians shold be honest" within 15 minutes.

GROUP DISCUSSION
Our topic was "Love marriage is better than arrange marriage". There were 10 persons in a group and duration was around 15 minutes. First 10 minutes were for open discussion and then everybody was given 30 seconds to summarize. Express your views only. It is not necessary that you have to take one side; you can take dual-stand also. Speak confidently for a few minutes.

PERSONAL INTERVIEW
Interviewers were very cool and friendly. My interview started with my introduction. They asked some questions on my weakness. Then there were a few HR questions. Those were very easy to answer. Then there were a few questions from technical subjects viz. Digital Circuits, OS, C and System Analysis and Design. I couldn,t answer all of them. They actually look for your attitude, aptitude and learnability. Be confident and show them that you have good soft skills and adequate techical skill.Try to shift the discussion to your areas of interest if there is any scope. So, be cool, calm and confident and you,ll be able to become an IBMer tomorrow. Finally, they declared the results in a gallery.

Short listed after GD: 42
Total selection from our university was 32 (18 from UG and 14 from PG students).
