TCE PAPER ON 23rd AUGUST AT HYDERABAD

Hi frends.........,
This is K.Rupa from BHOJ REDDY ENGG COLL for WOMEN, Hyderabad. We attended Tata Chemical as an off-campous which held in TKR coll, Hyd. There r mainly four stages in the selection procedure.

They are like
(1) Written Test( The test consist of 2 parts Aptitude and Technical which is purely concept based ) Duration is 1hr( 30 min Aptitude & 30 min Technical ). Aptitude contain-30 questions & Technical contain-50 questions.
(2) G.D
(3) Technical Interview.
(4) H.R

Aptitude section:
This basically contain 5 verbal ques,n( synonyms-3 & antonims-2 ). This are so easy to be answered i got (1) FEIGN, (2)SPECIFIC, (3)TEMPLET sorry i dont remember this..., (4) TEDUOUS, (5)this is also so simple...
After this there are 5 ques,n based on Data Interpretation. They r so easy no need to worry about that later i got some 10 ques,ns based on algebra, like...
(1) cos 45= ?
(2) If a man covers 750km in 2hrs, then much dis can he cover in 5hrs 45 min
(3) Two trains problem, moving in opposite directions with some velocities 500 & 700 km/hr. The dis is 2400. then find the time taken for them to meet.
(4) There are many ques,n based on trains ...aprox 3-4 ques,n there are some ques,n based on areas like area of the sphere, cube is so and so ..... then find edge later i got some 10 ques,ns based on...

i dont know exactly but the que,ns are like
(1) The distance b/w the two circle present on the scale ( on the scale there r some circles of same size, separated by same distance )
(2) The scale contain some readings and some instrument is beside that, then what fraction of scale is covered by instrument.
(3) Some weight of 80kg is placed at one end of the pully, then how much wt must be added on the other side of the pully to make it balance.... the balanace is not placed exactly at the center , this is dis dependent the rest of the questions are also easy.......to say aptitude section is so easy

Technical section:
This is so hard one. in this there will be 50q to be answ in just 30 min. this section basically include main concepts, there is no need to worry for the people who r studing for GATE.
(1) Pecklet no. def
(2)They had some question from the stuff we study in +2 like ideal gas equation, vander wals eqn etc.
(3) nusselt no. is used when ........
(4) If temp inc then what happens to viscosity?
(5) Cox chart is used in ....Distillation, evaporation, drying r none
(6) Renolds no. is?
(7) Inertial forces to drag forces is called which no.?
(8) The stage belo saturation is called?
(9) Throtling is the process dependent on (options)Temp r Press r Volume
(10) which cycle is efficient (option) otto , air....

The rest are also easy.... I am not giving u the solutions for this question,s bcz, i haven,t got selected to TCE. I wrote the written so perfectly but the selection process is some what different yar so luck also matters alot. for us i thought it is the random selection. we waited till 8 in the evening but unable to find a good news. but this sould nt repeat for u people that is the basic reason y i am writing this questions.
prepare well it is better to take any GATE book and check out the basic concepts before attemption the exam.

ROUND 1 WRITTEN TEST

i had my written test on 5th feb.\ the test was of 1 hour...90 questions. it was divided into 3 sections.
Analytical reasoning(18 Q),
Quantitive aptitude(32 Q),
Verbal.(40 Q)

each section was having its individual cut-off and you need to clear the cut off of three sections to move in the next section thers no negative marking. the section which is toughest has the lowest cutoff. so better attempt all questions. and a prt of that section on your own. so you can take away the cutoff. manage your time so that you can give equal time to all 3 sections. and attempt atleast 30-40% questions in each section on your own in each section.

overall out of 200+ only 59 could make it to the next round.

ROUND 2 GROUP DISCUSSION

well i had the GD round after waiting for around 5-6 hours of written test. GD is simple. all you need to is just follow all the GD norms. the people at US TECH are real nice. they just tried to make a cool and friendly environment before GD so that all students feel comfortable.
GD was around 8 minutes.
we get the topic "Cinematic Dance Should be banned in college Campus" other batches also get some easy ones like "reservation", "big & small", "big & small company" all you need to show is your communication skills and how you represent your knowledge. they check your confidence level and leadership qualities. just speak 4-5 times and a valid point can take you to the next level.

out of 59 only 25 were selected for the interview.

ROUND 3 INTERVIEW

the most awaited round. i had my interview next day on 6th feb. for all branches interview was technical. they just check your confidence level and if you can match company requirements.
my interview was as follow....

Int: give your brief introduction
Me: well i described it using my best.. i used my academic percentage as my main weapon. took 2-3 mins
Int: a simple puzzle...there r 2 friends who drinks at a place. one drinks fast and other takes it sipping. one person died after both had drink. investigation showed their drink was poisoned in equal amount. who & why?
Me i said the one who drinks fast as the quantity of total poison at a particular instant in that persons body is higher than that of other.
Int: i complicate this puzzle .now if the other person died what could be the reason?
wel that was real mind twister...its like u r gng on a highway and then u have too go back to a other road which u have to go after taking a u-turn. u have to start think in in the opposite direction. i took 10-15 secs.. and my smile gave the time
Me: well the other person could have ejected the drink and the drink would have been in the man who died body for a much greater time.
Int: (smiled) well these type of questions odnt have a particular perfect answer. they are their just to check how you can think.
Int: what,s your favorite subject
Me: sir its computer organization and design and analysis of algorithms
Int: ook. so what is an algorithm
Me: i explained with an e.g
Int: what do u mean by optimized algo
Me: well sir i m nt sure but what i think it can be..
Int: you think??
Me: yes sir...i hvnt heard of it but what i think abt is this....i explained...and it was right as i saw smile on interviewers face
Int: what,s garbage collection
Me: i explained. using memory blocks.. links ...and used terms like implicit control explicit control and told abt jre as garbage collector...(2-3 min for this answer)
Int: what are the biggest challenge for an it professional when he enters into computer field
Me: well sir there can be two...one can be software piracy and other threat from virus worms (explained it bit)
Int: well not this one...the immediate challenges
Me: sir the very first challenge would be adaptability......college world to corporate world...new environment...and after that each project from very small to big will b a project till i finish it to the satisfaction level of mine and my seniors level.
Int: well good...i saw what we need to look. (he gave a sign that i should get up)
Me: sir i have a question.. can i ask a q plzz
Int: ya sure
Me: us tech is seicmm5 level company what does it mean
Int: well it means.....(standards)
Me: sir i have another q .can i ask plzz
Int: (smiling) ya go ahead
Me: sir what all lang i nee d2 learn and what all platforms i need 2 work upon b4 i join us tech
Int: (smile again) well i wish you were in ,but if i select you then ....(depends on flexibility of clients of us tech + training)
Me: ok sit. thank you. good evening

and i ended it all with a firm hand shake and a smile. the interviewer were very nice people...they eased all the tension and make the environment very friendly...

the result came after 2 hours of interview.. and i was one of the lucky 12 of 25 selected in US TECH...

The last section consisted of logical reasoing(58-90). the tst was for 90 min.

The results for aptitude were given by 1 30. there were 17 groups selected for gd. .....the gd was ok....they looked if u wre confident in the points u were bringing in...,make sure an argument does not break...cuz those people r not selected......then they give time for a few people to conclude.....it will be good if u conclude.....be an active meber in the gd.....don,t just start it and sit quiet.....if people r not givin u a chance then make a chance....don,t be agressive........

3.should Abdul Kalam continue as president
4.should the captial be shifted from tvm to cochin
5.dress code
6.ragging
7.should trade unions b there in it copmanies
8.use of mobile phones

form a group of 8 they selected min of 4 and a max of 6. gd was over by 4 30pm. then i had to wait a long time for my interview.....cuz they had shortlisted 78 from gd....my interview was around 8 00pm. there r different types of interviews...i mean 3 were taken in simultaneoulsy and three diff people interviewed. Some had just HR...and some had deep tech ques. i had tech ques and HR....but the atmsphrer was cool....and tension free....technical wll be asked if u r comp scienc....then know u r c and c++ very wel.......also asked bout therads and all..........

the result was announced by 10 30.pm.. 40 of us frm campus were selected.

The procedure was as below
1) Test
2) Group discussion
3) Technical+HR interview

1) Test
The test was little bit lengthgy.it has 3 sections (quantz,comprehension,logical).totally there are 90 questions and time given is 60 minutes.Comprehension has 5 paragraphs in which first two are big and other three are small.quantz was very easy.Just see the clocks,time and work,profit and loss it was only 19questions.last part was logical little easy and u can do it.It consists of data intrepetation,number of circles and triangles and lines,from barrons 12th edition critical reasonong.Time will never be enough if u sit with the comprehension.the question paper will be given to you totally.first answer the quantz then logical part up to which u can and at the last twenty minutes go to comprehension.just answer 10 questions in quantz and leave.time management is very important.there will be Sectional cutt off which says that the cut off for every section will be every low so try to concentrate on all the sections.The cut off will be very low so dont worry. I got 10 out of 19 in quantz,8 out of 18 in comprehension and 32 out of 53 in logical.

2) GROUP DISCUSSION:

The Topic will given be and one minute time to think over it . My Topic is what India should do to get globalised over China. Wat u need to do is just speak 5 or 6 points wat ever you think.dont sit quitely listen to wat others are talking.you speak wat ever you know tat is imporatant.its very easy if u speak and u hav dare to speak..you will clear.
3) Interview:
The interview was very easy.my HR was a very frenly person and there are general questions lik tel me about urself?
2)Why do u want to come to IT industry?
3)Hobbies .........etc

Technical:
He just asked me whether I know C,dbms and so on.I told no sir i dont know anything if u lik u can answer me from my department as i am from ECE and i mentioned u can question from microprocessor.He asked about my project and i explained..very casual interview.I was succeded...............

Round-1 Written test(there is a online test) divided in to two parts.
1st part is named as aptitude test .the time limit was 60 minutes. it comprises the following section.

2nd part is named as speed test.(time limit is 10 minutes)

Section 1: Swapping and Key Dictionary Problems (15 questions in 10 minutes). Don’t read instructions of this section.

Each section was having its individual cut-off and you need to clear the cut off of IX sections to move in the next round there was no negative marking. The section which is toughest has the lowest cut-off. So better attempt all questions. And a part of that section on your own. So you can take away the cut-off.



Manage your time so that you can give equal time to all 6 sections. And attempt 80% questions in each section. Sectional cut-off for every section will be every low so try to concentrate on all the sections.

Overall out of 589 only 153 could make it to the next round.



Round 2 Group Disscussion (25 minutes).



GD was simple. All you need to be just follow all the GD norms. The people at US Technology are real nice. They just tried to make a cool and friendly environment before GD so that all students feel comfortable.donot be agreesive otherwise you will disqualify ,

GD was around 25 minutes.



Topics were:

* advertisement is glitter or truth

* Indian villages boon or bane .

* woman are good manager

* mercy killing

*petrol prices

my topic was advertisement is glitter or truth. gd was around 10 minute ,in remmaning 15 minute he asked the hr questions frm each students ,but he asked questions to me in gd like if i hired you where will you look to you in next five years ? what are the core values of ust? what are the phases of s/w devlopement life cycle?

Out of 153 only 72 were selected for the interview.

Round 3 interviews (Technical cum HR)

The interview was very easy. My HR was a very friendly person and there are general questions like tell me about yourself?

Immediately after my GD we had Interview.

My interview was as follow.

me: thanku sir, he shakes hand with me

me: thnku sir

sir: ok.....dats gud...being the eldest son don,t u feel responsiblity towards ur family?

me: sir its not abt responsiblity...rather its an oppurtunity 4 me to serve my family.....n i,ll fulfill 2 d the best of my effort.....

sir: good...m impressed..ok u r an it engineer..so i can i ask u some technical questions?

me; yes sure sir

sir: okk tell me wat do u understand by normalisation

me: told

sir: write a code to insert an element in the linklst in the begning

always take the road less travelled...bcz on it u hv ample scope to build up ur innovations....

US TECHNOLOGY PAPER ON 08th FEBRUARY AT NOIDA

Hi,
I given the test fro U.S technology on 8th febreuary. The company name is strange to me because i heard it for first time. This is small company established in 1999 but growth rate is very good. Company is having only two centres in india and remaining are in US so chances for going to USA is more in this company.

There are three rounds in the test
1)Written test
2)Group Discussion
3)Techincal cum HR Interview.
The selection Process is little bit difficult.

Written Test:
US Technology has changed its pattern .The Quoestion paper was lengthy but quiet easy. It consists of 90 quoestions and time limit is 60 min. quoestion paper consists of 3 Sections and u have to clear each section seperately.

Quantitative Apptitude: 20 Quoestions
The topics are from R.S aggarwal concentrate mainly on Time and Work(3 quoestions) , boats and Streams,Profit and Loss,Interest,Average.

Verbal ability: 30 Quoestions
This is the sections where u have intelligently manage your time because it consistes of 5 Comphrension passages 2 are very very lengthy (one A4 size) and remaining 3 are very small. and comphrension are very easy (simple english).

Logical Reasoning : 40 qouestions
This section quiet easy .u have to aplly your common sense . follow RS agarwal Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning. no need to Study all the chapter
Sequences-4 quoestions
Puzzles- 7 or 8 quoestions
Blood Relations-10 quoestions
Directions-5 quoestons
calender-2 quoestions (RS agarwal quantitative apttitude)
clocks-4 quoestions (RS agarwal quantitative apttitude)

In puzzles quoestions are based on arrangements like siz people has to sit in a row according to hieght wise A is in middle and C is 2 positions right to D like this.
quoestions like a student rank is 15 from first and 43 from last in a class. what are total number of students in the class?
At 12 clock both the hands of clock are in north east direction and at 4:0 direction of minutes hand is?
a point is in north direction then it is rotated 135 degrees in clock wise direction and 60 degrees in anti clok wise direction what is the direction of hte point?

quoestions are simple u just had to maintain the time only. I some how able to see my marks in written test i scored 8 in qnatitative, 12 in verbal and 18 in logical so the cut off is very low and i got selected in this round.
Out of 475 Students only 158 students got selected in this round.
Group Discussion:
This is a round of mass elimination . They just selected 1 or 2 people from a group of 10 students. so out of 158 students they selcted 28 students only.

The topics are very general like
1) Reservation in Higher education
2)Abortion should be legallised
3)Current episodes of KBC who is better in presentaion? Amitabh or Sharukh
4)Work more Pay less.

Remember that dont talk so much in GD .Just speak only 2 or 3 points and remaining pretend that u are listenin to others carefully. Eye contact is very important while talking and dont look at Panel of judge.Keep silent when GD becomes fish market(so much of noise). Keep this point in mind these are very important becaue this round is main elimination. If u got a female judge then she will observe these very carefully and she looks for strength in ur matter and if u got male it wont be so difficult.

one more time keep in mind dont talk so much and keep silent where GD becomes fish market. They havent selcted people who are speaking very much they selected people with 2 points and good in listening.

Interview:
Interview wont be so difficult . For CS and it they will be asking more Techinical if u mention JAVA be careful beacause the company mainly works on Java plattform only if u are non CSE,IT student better dont mention any Computer subject. If u are an electronic student they may ask some electronics quoestions like Digital etc.
Some common HR quoestions like Tell me about yourself, Your Role Model, Why IT field etc..

So the process is some what difficult but have a good chances of growth when compared to other MNC companies. Work hard and Practice GD.

ROUND 2 GROUP DISCUSSION cum Case Study Discussion (15 minutes, 2 topics)

Well I had the GD round on 8th Feb. GD was simple. All you need to be just follow all the GD norms. The people at US TECH are real nice. They just tried to make a cool and friendly environment before GD so that all students feel comfortable.

GD was around 15 minutes. (2 topics, one we have to choose ourself)

Topics were:-
· Orkut(chosen by me)
· Finance
· Is or Was(given by panel)

For Case study:
· If you are in jungle and u have given 5 things so give priority to these items: Bread, Water, Matchbox, Compass and Axe
· Give Bharat Ratna to any one: Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi
· Select ICC team from all over world and u have to beat AUS

Out of 230 only 90 were selected for the interview.

ROUND 3 INTERVIEWS (Technical cum HR)

US TECHNOLOGY PAPER ON 2nd APRIL AT SASTRA UNIVERSITY

A big hello to all UST aspirants!!!!
UST visited our campus(SASTRA UNIVERSITY , TANJORE) on 2 april 2007.. n i am glad to mention that i got placed in US TECHNOLOGY one of India,s best IT companies with a thundering (80%) growth rate..n one of few companies which beleives in "EMOTIONAL BOND" between an employee and the company... with just 10% attrition rate even without BONDS.. This is a company which respects ethical values like"HUMILITY,HUMANITY,INTEGRITY ". This is one of few companies which practises "Flat Hierarchy".. n provides an ambient environment for both Personal and career growth..!!! check out more abt this awesome company in company,s preplacement talk... i bet this would be the best presentation u hve ever heard... !!

we had altogether 3 rounds
around 700 people appeared fr the test

1) WRITTEN TEST
Aptitude ( 19 Q) -- There were Prob. on Train, Time & Work and other simple problems.( Follow R.S.Aggarwal - Quantitative )
English (30 Q) -- Five paragraphs ... three of them are very long ... simple but very time consuming.
Reasoning (41 Q) -- There ware Qs from Data Suffiency, Blood Relations, Puzzles, Binary Series .. Coding Decoding .. etc.( Follow R.S.Aggarwal - Verbal-Nonverbal )

Time-90 mins

There will be sectional cut off .. so concentrate on all sections...in verbal section dont spend too much time on first two passages.. better move frm last...

2) GROUP DISCUSSION
This is the main elimination round...1 or 2 out of 10( group) cleared this...just follow the general GD rules and tricks to clear this round

*Dont panic much abt the topics given.. just stay cool.. n speak boldly what u knw...

3) Technical & HR interview..
The best part of UST is u will be given full opportunity to explain abt urself..
* Int usually starts with the question TELL ME ABT URSELF!!
* If ur a non IT guy.. then make the best use of this question ... explain ur strengths and acheivements....
*For a non IT person there will be few basic questions on C programming... sometimes few simple apti n puzlle questions (General one. not frm any book!)
*Technical questions will be asked on Area of Interest u mention... so prepare well for ur fav subject...n few questions on ur projects...

for me int lasted fr abt 50 mins....

HR personnel were very friendly.... that was the best part abt it!!! so stay cool and try to give ur best!! 28 members were selected out of 700 odd people who appeared!!

I am very happy to tel u tat I was placed in the prestigious MNC US Technology after a long struggel and it was my 9th Company.so frens dont loose hope if u hav missed few opportunities as u even need luck also.

The procedure was as below
1) Test
2) Group discussion
3) Technical+HR interview

1) Test
The test was little bit lengthgy.it has 3 sections (quantz,comprehension,logical).totally there are 90 questions and time given is 60 minutes.Comprehension has 5 paragraphs in which first two are big and other three are small.quantz was very easy.Just see the clocks,time and work,profit and loss it was only 19questions.last part was logical little easy and u can do it.It consists of data intrepetation,number of circles and triangles and lines,from barrons 12th edition critical reasonong.Time will never be enough if u sit with the comprehension.the question paper will be given to you totally.first answer the quantz then logical part up to which u can and at the last twenty minutes go to comprehension.just answer 10 questions in quantz and leave.time management is very important.there will be Sectional cutt off which says that the cut off for every section will be every low so try to concentrate on all the sections.The cut off will be very low so dont worry. I got 10 out of 19 in quantz,8 out of 18 in comprehension and 32 out of 53 in logical.

2) GROUP DISCUSSION:

The Topic will given be and one minute time to think over it . My Topic is what India should do to get globalised over China. Wat u need to do is just speak 5 or 6 points wat ever you think.dont sit quitely listen to wat others are talking.you speak wat ever you know tat is imporatant.its very easy if u speak and u hav dare to speak..you will clear.
3) Interview:
The interview was very easy.my HR was a very frenly person and there are general questions lik tel me about urself?
2)Why do u want to come to IT industry?
3)Hobbies .........etc

Technical:
He just asked me whether I know C,dbms and so on.I told no sir i dont know anything if u lik u can answer me from my department as i am from ECE and i mentioned u can question from microprocessor.He asked about my project and i explained..very casual interview.I was succeded...............
