1>Written Test: consists of six sections.
a>English (20q 30min)
consists of 2 reading comprehensions each with 5q,next preposition and articles next 10q.options are nearly same and confusing.Time management is important.
b>Logical reasoning(30q 30min)
consists of syllogisms, statement conclusions,statement arguments,1 puzzle its simple,decoding,guessing the next figure,data interpretation.Here also time management is important.
c>Programming(c/java)(20q 20 min):
programs on structures,pointers,arrays were asked.mostly on for loops also.flowchart was given a question was asked.
d>technical(20q 30min):
this was completely theory based.They asked questions like worst case complexity of AVL tree etc.its some what easy compared to other sections.
e>learning ability?(10q 10min):first a passage is given and we are asked to read for 15 min and later they took away the paper and asked to answer the questions.
f>mail writing.
we were given a situation and asked to reply through a mail.
Totally there were 100q and exam lasted for 21/2 hrs.
luckily I got through the test and later i got to know that i scored 53 so cut was around 50 I think.
2>Technical interview
My interviewer was cool.he asked me basic questions like diff between stack and queue and asked to write a stack program.
they were asking for a subject other than c were guys were good at.asked few qs from dbms like ACID properties,normalization and 3nf like that.i think they just for spontaneity
I cleared this section also.I was first to clear this and immediately they called me for hr.
3>HR:
HR mam was cool asked qs that weren,t common like she wants to know how we respond for unprepared questions.
Some of them were
1>tell me something other than from ur resume
2>explain or support how ur a self motivator.like i wrote it in my resume.
3>who is ur role model in software industry.why?
she asked me to wait untill all were interviewed.I am the first to complete technical and hr.around 11.30 am my all rounds were completed and results were announced at 4pm.Luckily my name was the first to be announced.

Hi all, i attended Virtusa drive for testing for position of QA through mindq systems. It was of 4 rounds for us.

1.Written only QTP
2.Written only QTP
3.Technical interview
4.HR Interview

The written was asked very tough. It was confusing and in depth. If you are confident enough you can clear.
Technical was asked based on written performance. For few they asked only manual. For me they asked only QTP. Questions were like:
1. Rate urself in QTP
2. How can you know the properties of object?
3. Script to swap strings
4. Script to compare strings
5. Script to click on button
6. How does QTP find the objects
7. Name few description properties for button
8. What is retesting and regression testing
9. Diff btwn web server and application server
10. Write test cases on building
11. Testcases on moon

These kind were askd in tech round. But in written they were a lot on syntax, much on methods, synchronizaion, transaction, GetTO and GetRo properties.

Guys even if you dont know QTP go thru syntax enough. Don,t depend only on manual or only on QTP. Prepare both as the pattern changes for written. They recruited approximately 20 to manual and 5 to QTP at the end while many were filtered in written out off around 300. For Technical all you need is confidence even if you are wrong. It is very easy. HR is just formality. Though it pays very very less compared to other companies, the work you learn in Virtusa is priceless.

There is no GD



Written test consists of 5 sections

1) Analytical ability-20m,30min

2) Verbal ability.30m,20min

3) Attention to detail-20m,20min

4) Technical-40m 30min

5) Reading ability.-10m 20min



1st section is verbal ability it consists of

1) rc 5m

2) articles 10m

3) select appropriate meaning 5m

4) some stuff like find out errors 10m



Articles are very simple like names of large cities followes by in & villages by at just based on this he asked 4 questions other also very simple We can get synonyms by context I think no need to prepare for that. Errors also easy this paper is made by MERIT TRAC so you can prepare questions from IBM also



2nd analytical ability is some what tough it has a cube prob

der r 3 cubes are placed horizontally and cutted into 64 (each cube) & den 1st one line (4*4)row of second & 1st 2 rows of 3rd cube r removed & painted black all sides now que are

1) how many cubes r only 1 side painted

2) how many cubes r 2 sides painted

3) how many cubes r 3 sides painted

4) how many cubes r no side painted



and 2 probs on time & distance 1 started with a speed 20kmph &den 2 started after 30 min 1 when started with a speed of 25kmph and 3 started after how many min wit a speed 40kmph to reach all 3 at same time?

Attehtion to detail this is very easy section & que on decision making r some twisted be prepared from R S aggarwal’s VERBAL reasoning. Der r some que based on binary numbers 5 prob r given $=1,*=0 then what is value of $$***$$/**$*$$$$ like this



Technical this is hardest in all sections we hav to do 40 q in 30 min & der r 10 progarammes each of 1 ½ page length don’t do them first be prepare from DS especially from linkedlist&trees most of d q r based on that

READING ability they given a 2 ½ page material on pipelining of microprocessors is given followed by simple q s
They said there is sectional cutoff but I hav seen my answer paper & I got 76 out of 120 n der is nothing abt sutoff marks on dat sheet

Hai friends, I am sankilikumar (BE.ECE)from thigarajar college. engg.,madurai-15. its a off-campus. totally 8 colleges. 415 students. first of all..BE CONFIDENCE with PATIENCE.
I attended for some companies previously. But i am still confident and tried and attempted for all, so please be confident.

I Round :- Written Test ( conducted by METRIC Track)415 are attended. It is having 5 phases of paper,s .
(1) Verbal Ability --- synonyms,antonyms, articles, wrong sentense,s, paragraph,s.
(2) Apptitude Ability --- appitude questions from r.s.agarwal (regular)
(3) Mental Ability --- (very very very easy dont get confused)
(4) Technical Ability --- questions from C and datastructures (.SOLVE simple questions first which may be present at the last.. be careful)
(5) Reading Ability --- they give a 3 pages document to read and understand and they take back the paers and give us a question paper of abt 10 questions (read only once and very carefully.. remember the key words and main theme of the document )

II Round :- Group Discussion (conducted by the HR Team)short listed 62
The topics given are very very casual. they just want to test whether every one is having their own idea and are we able to talk when we are given a chance . After the announcement of the short listed candidates from written test all of us are divided into groups each containing 10 members.
The GD topics are like:
cell phone band
wat
Politics,...etc

III Round :- Technical interview (short listed 47)
This is a bit tough round . the session lasted for about 45minut to 1 hour. be confident on the subjects you are interested. about my all projects first...

I was asked to write the following programs and explain the logic:
Check whether the given number or a string is palindrome or not.
To print the number given in an integer form to the same in words like one for 1, two for 2 and so on
Program to print the angle between the pointers in the wall clock when time is taken as input.
Can trees be implemented using arrays?
Some programs were given and I am asked for output.
when is the queue empty and when is it full.

I was asked two puzzles
About the inheritance in C++
Some questions on electronics like what is meant by diode, transistor, resistor, capacitor.
Why are you interested in s/w?

IV Round :- HR interview.
This is the Easiest Round we have to face. But be careful. Here the Key,s to Success are CONFIDENT and COMMUNICATION SKILLS. Be confident of wat u say. the questions are regular like.....

Why do you need a job?
What is your place in the class?
Did you selected or attended in any company?
why sould we appoint u

dont be over confident. Be casual all the time. I am sorry that I have not remembered the questions in written test.
The results were announced around 6.00pm and I felt tensed but at last I selected .totally 18 students r selected

VIRTUSA PATTERN & INTERVIEW ON 13 JULY 2006 AT VISAKHAPATNAM

I attended Virtusa campus interview on July 13th in Pydaah engineering college, Visakhapatnam. It was a 2-day interview. Please read the following matter patiently.

It consists of 4-rounds.
1) Written test
2) GD
3) Tech interview
4) HR interview

Written Test:
Again in written test it consists of different sections
1) Vocabulary
2) Quantitative part
3) Critical reasoning
4) Tech exam
5) Learning ability

1) Vocabulary: It contained sentence completion with prepositions. They were very easy. For Example:
Sentence ----------------- sentence
a) The b) an c) a d) none
This type of sentences around 10 or 11, they were very easy. No need for preparation. Then Reading Comprehension and some other. Total questions were 30. If u prepare Barrons high frequent words some sections were easy.

2) Critical Reasoning: It was ok. No need to prepare much for this. I didn,t know that these many sections were there till I attended the test

3) Quantative Aptitude: Prepare R.S.Agrawal well its enough. Mainly cubes sums, time and distance, time and work and so on.

4) Tech Written: This is main. It is very difficult frankly speaking. They gave bits on trees,graphs,linked lists,pointers.If u r good at DS (data structures) then u can write this Exam well. In this section they will give programs like creation of link, traversing etc. No need to worry, options will be there. Here mainly time management is important.

5) Learning Ability test, Where 2 pages are given. First all the stuff has to be read for 20 minutes. After u read that, then they will take back the paper and give u a question paper containing 10 questions. Answer those questions by remembering what u have read. It was for 10 minutes. The topics given to me were on embedded systems an mailing technology

Now comes the GD -My topic given was "should Reservations in India were necessary or not".
In GD there were around 10 people and competition I very tough.
The results were announced and I got selected. This is the first day process
2-nd day tech interview nd hr Interview

In Tech Interview they asked me nearly about 5 subjects bcz am comps student. The subjects were
1) C-language
2) Java
3) Dbms
4) OS
5) UML
The interview was abt 2hrs it was very tough time for any body bcoz this filtering round.

WRITTEN TEST:

For vocabulary just Basic English knowledge is enough. Questions r just on articals, prepositions two comprehensions etc

For Aptitude it’s just mainly on ven diagrams, Cube problems, some from R.s Agarwal.Its really very easy.

Reasoning is also very easy here we can get more marks, just they give silly questions to test our spontaneity .They just give some different words we have to find the correct one. Remaining Questions are also very easy.

Technical section: This is very critical section to answer. They mainly give Questions on C&DS, but they are very tough questions. They gave some large programs of length 1 page we have to check the errors. If we have the basic concepts with us then we can answer some questions easily. Test your C Skills book is useful for this concepts.

Learning section: Here they give one big essay/article of 2 pages for first 10 minutes, we have to read it. Then they take that paper & give some 10 questions on that essay. We have to answer those questions in 20 minutes. We have essay on some Mobile communications.

Note: Friends in this test each & every section has its own time we have to complete each section in allotted time. They take Question papers from us after completion of each section time. There is sectional cutoff for each section.

Out of 980 students they selected 160 students from written test.

GROUP DISCUSSION:

Friends this not the elimination round. We have the topic “Is Vijayawada is suitable for Second Capital or not?”, but I only oppose this topic. In this GD just we need to speak something about the topic that is enough. From our group they selected total 7 students from group of 8. Just follow the GD rules that are enough to clear this round. Some of our friends have the topics like “media role in corruption”, “Affect of movies on Youth”, “Love marriages Vs Arranged marriages”,”Terrarism”.

Out of 160 students they selected 101 students.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW:

This is also critical part of entire interview. They mainly ask about the questions on C & DS. They may ask some programs also on mainly DS. My questions are:

1) What is your favorite subject? I answered as OS.

2) What are the major functions of OS

3) Write the program for reverse the string in any language?

4) What is a ternary operator? How it is used to compare 3 operators?

5) What are basic search algorithms?

6) What is a binary search?

7) How many sorting algorithms are there? What are they?

8) Explain any sorting algorithm with example?



Interviewer is very calm and he is very jovial person. But my friends face some critical questions on DS.

Write a program to check whether given date is valid or not?

Write a program to delete a node in double linked list? (Entire program)

Just through with the basic concepts on C & DS, Java, DBMS, and OS.

Out of 101 students they selected nearly 70 students.

I asked about the platform on which VIRTUSA projects are going on and VIRTUSA is such a big MNC but limited to only four countries I asked the reason.

After 7 hrs they announce the results.

Out of 70 students

They finally selected 47 students.

I am also the one of them by GOD grace only

Now I am very happy.

DON’T STOP THE RACE UNTILL WE SEE THE DESTINATION BCZ SUCCESS HAVE NO ENDS IT’S A CONTINIOUS PROCESS WE CAN’T REACH THE FINAL DESTINATION, BUT WE MAY REACH ITS STARTING POSTION.IF U R FAILED AT ANY INSTANCE DON’T DISAPPOINT BCZ GOD HIDES SOMETHING BETTER THAN THIS.

5.Document Reading



1.English Grammar: It consists of English grammar part, Correction of sentences, paragraph reading

eg:1.He ran ____ the road.

ans: across

Be thorough with prepositions, correction of sentences. The grammar part is very easy. No need to worry of it.

2.analytical Reasoning: It includes puzzle test, apptitude and otherssss
.better to follow Verbal and Nonverbal by R.S.Agarwal
.this section is also very easy, pay attention to it in the exam its enough

The puzzle given to me is about venn diagram

eg: There are 49 persons who had to travel by train, bus, plane.....

15 of them go by train and bus

12 of them go by all of the three..... just simply the venn diagram of three circles intersecting each other.

3.Learning and Thinking ability:

It is very Logical and just concentrate very carefully.....the process will be like this

eg: * stands for +, / stands for - ,+ stands for * ,- stands for / etc;

others are also simple.......

4. C and Data Structures :

Mainly this is very typical section. I think this is the elimination round....

the total section deals with C with 20 questions, data structures with 20 questions and programs are small, medium and long. don,t start with long programs...they are very difficult. leave them and try the small one.....

Just be thorough with Basics of C and Data structures you can attempt nearly 15 questions....

5.Document Reading :

This section consisting of giving three pages of document of recent technologies. I got the topic of about security about internet.....

just pick out the some of interesting names and note it.

after 10 min they take the papers and will give 10 questions about the document...........

Technical Interview :

The questions mainly include about the c and data structures...

1.Programs about linked list, sorting, trees........

2.About the computer networks ie on OSI reference model........

I am in ECE student and was asked about my subjects also

It is very quite cool, just know about the latest trends

HR Interview :

The HR interview has also been good.......

just be confident about your self, your goals.........

always be confident and positive

I have lost Written test in Tcs, Infosys but i am very lucky to be placed in Virtusa. I am very proud to be Virtusian.........

0 for $ n 1 for * questions n sorry i dont remember all....

On July 13th there is an off campus in pydah college which I have attended. There is a huge crowd. Around 1100 members attended to this interview. Out of that only 200 qualified in written exam and after that in GD 140 were short listed and after technical 90 were selected and atlast after HR round 70 were taken into the company.

Selection procedure:
1. Written exam
2. Group discussion
3. Technical interview
4. HR interview.

WRITTEN TEST:

There were 5 sections in written exam
1. Verbal ability-----25 questions------20 min
Its easy which consisted of sentence completion based on prepositions.
Some synonyms like SHELVED
2 Reading Comprehensions.

2. Aptitude--------25 ques.--------20 min
Its somewhat easy but time management is important.
3 questions on sets and relations venn diagrams problems on ages
5 questins on if a cube is painted with black color and divided into 729 cubes how
many cubes have single, double, triple, none faces colored.
Given two conditions and we have to select howmany conditions we need to answer the given question.

3. Attention detail-------20questions------20 min
Its very easy by seeing the options we can answer.
Some questions like if *->+, /->-, +->/, - -> * evaluate an expression.

4. C&DS---------40 questions--------30 min
Its somewhat difficult and many of them have been failed to qualify in this section.
Many data structutes programs were given and asked for the function to be inserted
given in options like sorting of linked lists, insertion of node in a linked list, assigning
a Node and so on.
C programs were easy.
Which of the following uses less memory Ans union.
Which function allocates memory by initializing memory cells with zero.
Ans. Calloc()

5. Learning ability------10questions------15 min
In this section a paragraph a notes based on blue tooth was given and after reading it for few min they take the paper back and then the question paper will bw givwn containing ten questions. We should write based on what we have studied and remembered. Its not that much difficult.

GROUP DISCUSSION:
After the announcement of the short listed candidates from written test all of us are divided into groups each containing 10 members.
The GD topics are like:
Reservation system
Public toilets
Sports like cricket
Politics
I got the reservations topic and I spoke to it from the basic idea of its amendment by Dr.Ambethkar and the present situation is not like that and a better system should be imposed not based on caste so that every one who is poor can afford for education.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW:
On the next day ie on 14th technical and HR rounds are to be held.
The technical round is little bit tough due to the heavy competition from MCA students. Of course the questions are from our interested areas in programming language. I said that I am interested in C

I was asked to write the following programs and explain the logic:
Check whether the given number or a string is palindrome or not.
-Print the Pascal triangle
-To print the number given in an integer form to the same in words like one for 1, two for 2 and so on
This I have done using arrays.
-Fibonacci series program 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21.......
-Program to print the angle between the pointers in the wall clock when time is taken as input.
-Program to investigate the free cells in the string and reduce the wastage.
-Can trees be implemented using arrays?
-Swapping program using XOR operation.
-Some programs were given and I am asked for output.
-when is the queue empty and when is it full.
-Some questions on electronics like what is meant by diode, transistor, resistor, capacitor.
-Why are you interested in s/w?

HR Interview:
The first question is tell me about yourself
Being an electronics student why don,t you opt for VLSI and embedded systems which are in fame
Why do you need a job?
Questions on my hobbies.
What is your place in the class?
I was asked two puzzles
About the inheritance in C++
Did you selected or attended in any company

That,s it friends. I am sorry that I have not remembered the questions in written test.

The results were announced around 1:30 am and I felt tensed but at last I selected & it,s a wonderful experience to me. I think these might help you and give you an idea to prepare well.
