Q1 What kind of job do we get (administrative/field) after clearing CDS test and SSB interview?
Ans: First of all after clearing UPSC CDS and SSB interview you don't get a JOB you undergo training at the respective Academies IMA, AFA,NA or OTA(chennai). Now at the army academies just one month before you are done with your PASSING OUT PARADE(which marks the end of a GC as becomes an OFFICER) GCs are provided with the list of vacancies in respective regiments which they can opt for according to their performance in their term. And it also depends on your course type TGC & SSC(Tech) guys are mostly sappers. CDS candidate have a fair chance to join the infantry or armed corps. NDA cadets are mostly preferred for Infantry regiments as the 3 years at Khadakwasla, builds the base.
Q2 How do I prepare for SSB along with a job?
Ans: First of all kudos to you for thinking about prepping for SSB even if you have job commitments. Since SSB is a 5 day long process, many working people refrain themselves from appearing for SSB. In my perspective, even without an ounce of preparation, one can clear the SSB. They are just analyzing our character, other things just serve as an added advantage.
PSYCHOLOGY: If you have confidence on your persona, you don’t have to do practice for psych test. usually practice do more harm than good here. Just get yourself acquainted with how to form a story, what not to write in WAT, what is a complete response in SRT.
INTERVIEW: An officer should know what is going on around him. So reading any one newspaper will do. Know about your discipline. Introspect and know all about yourself. you can sail through the interview part. Questions related your family, friends etc you will naturally be able to answer them all (just ensure your answers are desirable). Brushing up your current affairs, stream knowledge will show your awareness and your responsibility as a student.
GROUND TASK: I believe that one don’t need any coaching to be cooperative, attentive to the task we committed, help others and take them forward along with us. Selflessness and integrity is the core quality they are looking in at ground task. Just know the do’s and dont’s. You don’t need anything than reading a newspaper for GD, Lecturette preparation. So being an avid reader of newspaper is the necessary thing which comes handy in interview and GT. Dedicating 2 hours is adequate for this.
Try to understand the OLQ’s. Spend your spare time for this. Introspect and correct till you feel you are a right fit for this profession. If you feel that you have it in you, you just need to present it well to bag the recommendation.
