Distinguished Software Development Engineer Expedia Group's Partner Supply Connectivity Tech organization empowers partners to power great travel experiences and is responsible for building the end-to-end supply partner experience for all our brands and across all lines of business Our mission to Power Travel for Everyone, Everywhere, will be enabled further by this critical engineering leader who will develop our supply partner technology strategy for Expedia Group across Transportation (Air, Car, Cruise, Ground), Activities and Lodging 3rd part inventoryAs a Distinguished Engineer, you will work closely with Expedia Architecture team and tech leaders across the Supply Tech teams, and utilize your creativity and technical skills to architect platforms which shape the future of supply connectivity Our teams have flexibility to make the technology choices that best provide value to our beloved travelers and partners As a member of the team, you'll be leading, deciding and evangelizing these choices.
You'll also be part of an architecture guild that helps to define, communicate and evolve this platformWhat you will do:Provide strategic influence across brands, departments, projects, and products to implement cost-effective technology solutions that tackle complex business problemsEngage in and facilitate conceptual design sessions, discussing proposed technology solutions, to insure they scale, are supportable, and meet business objectivesCollaborate across Data Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to provide technical guidance and architectural input into data product developmentWork with senior leadership to articulate opportunities, costs, and risks associated with decisions made around the platform architecture and implementationPrototype solutions and evaluate platforms, documenting and sharing key insights with technical and non-technical usersManage multiple concurrent, complex, and/or unique projects and initiatives from the architecture and platform perspectiveProvide planning support for a 1-2 year view on technology, platform and/or operational strategies for business unit(s) supportedProvide technical coaching and mentorship across engineering teams, fostering an environment of innovation and inclusion on Cloud ecosystemsDrive towards an architecture that optimizes flexibility, re-use, scalability, performance, availability and highly cost-effectiveDrive the evolution of standards & design patterns with industry-standard methodologies and new technology to enhance productivity, quality, and system performanceIdentify system, infrastructure, and project interdependencies and balance opposing demands to ensure the teams can deliver positive and timely project outcomesBuild the SDK capabilities that allow for consumption of key travel components in external/third party native applicationsWho you are:Have a professional background in, and are passionate about backend application developmentSet a vision and strategy and drive multi-organization, multi-dependency, and multi-year technological roadmapsDemonstrate a strong technical background allowing leadership of several technical domains and choices recommended in a team and then implementation involving several technologies.
