How You Will Contribute:Reporting to the Director Learning, as a Global Learning Commercials Specialist, you will be responsible to ensure revenue is recognized correctly and accurately, as well as work with Global Services team to forecast revenue by quarter for Ciena Learning You will work with other organizations in Ciena to answer departmental financial questions as well as provide guidance to others based on department finances In addition to helping the company accurately report revenue, you will also assist with regular process improvements and system enhancements.
As a member of Learning Services commercials team, you will be the primary lead in the processing of revenue impacting adjustments and reconciling balance sheet accounts, and will monitor revenue, reconcile receivables, and unearned accounts You will also work with internal customers to resolve related revenue inquiries In addition to revenue and forecast responsibilities, you will assist in facilitating the automation of current processes and procedures
- You will be handling the operations in Learning Services and has a broad range of interactions throughout the entire organization You will work with financials to ensure that revenue and forecast are accurate but will work with a variety of groups to approve orders and confirm that payment method are accurate.
In addition, you will also assist the SPLM (Services Product Line Manager) to understand and ensure that prices are accurately set in systems throughout Ciena - You will complete weekly reconciliation of key general ledger accounts under areas of responsibility identify, document, and resolve anomalies In addition, you will respond to issues for customer support (internal customers) that require more in-depth expertise, research and problem solving Advances issues as needed to internal experts for advice, input or assistance
- You will monitor the Ciena Learning order bookings for ILT, subscriptions, etc.
and monitor with all key stakeholders, including Learning Coordinators, to ensure all bookings are properly driven (captured, confirmed or enabled) in a proactive manner Assist with the review of revenue projections with internal stakeholders - You will monitor and review quote discounting, counsel on discounting policy and escalate to Sr Director, SPLM for non-standard discount approval Also inform internal teams when the Cancellation policy should be communicated to customers based on ILT course bookings.
- You will drive declaration of orders that are ready for RevRec, and deliver submission into Finance and Accounting Also act as the main point of review and approval for non-billable training commitments
- You will act as main reviewer/approver of all Training-related Purchase Orders, ensuring accuracy in the data captured within all POs Additionally, release approved Oracle Items to Accounting upon successful completion of the Training (including uploading rosters for ILT/VILT sessions and eLearning subscriptions) Also release PO line items in Oracle associated with Learning items.
You will also ensure rosters and welcome letters are uploaded into CPODS to recognize revenue - You will collaborate with the Portfolio team, RTMs and regional Sales teams to ensure compliance of contractual terms and/or bid responses You will propose responses for instances that are outside mainstream process or course offering Also ensures that revenue is recognized in accordance with Corporate and SEC standards
- You will Support the SPLM (Services Product Line Manager) by consulting on cost model for new offers and ensuring pricing is setup within all internal systems Collaborate with SPLM to setup new part numbers based on new courseware, or modify existing part numbers based on evolving solutions.
Maintain Ciena Pricing List on Inside Ciena, and work with all internal stakeholders who utilize the Price List for quoting purposes - You will manage and track the RFP quotes in the Global Tracker, ensuring communication across the response team (RTM, Portfolio Manager and Learning Consultant in Region) As needed, develop plan to complete the RFP requirements, ensure response agreement / completion by the team and that the RFP is submitted on time to the Account or Proposal team
- You will assess customer contracts to confirm the period in which revenue should be recognized Also generate customer sales orders per the terms within the underlying customer contracts.
- You will collaborate with our FP&A team during month-end close to analyze Contracted Annual Recurring Revenue Prepare the Monthly Recurring Revenue 'CLAR' analysis and provide explanations for significant/unexpected month-over-month changes Generate and update department financial forecast by applying a variety of sources of information accurately gather information, update other systems and produce reports on forecasts for organization
- Support management in providing necessary support and analysis for external inquiries

The Must Haves:
- Strong analytical, prioritization and communication skills in partnering with other internal groups and management Familiarity with Excel (Advanced MS Excel) spreadsheets is essential along with working knowledge of revenue recognition guidelines
