The Graduate Programme at TIFR is classified into the following Subjects - Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer & Systems Sciences (including Communications and Applied Probability) and Science Education
Eligibility: Candidates in the final year of qualifying degree can also apply
Mathematics
For PhD : M.
A/MSc/MTech.
For I-PhD : BA/B.
Sc/BE/BTech.
(Students already having/completing an MSc degree by July 2019 are not eligible for I-PhD).
Physics
For PhD: MSc/M.
S in Physics, or equivalent, on completion of programmes(s) of duration not less than 5 years in totalFor I-PhD: M.
E/MTech/BSc.
/BS/BE/ B.
Tech/BChem in Physics, Engineering Physics, or equivalent degree, on completion of programme(s) of duration not less than 3 years in total In addition,I-Ph.
D candidates with not less than four or more years of university education who clear the written test may be considered by TCIS for their PhD program
Chemistry
For Ph.
D: MSc/BE.
/BTech/MPharm or equivalent degree.
For I-PhD: BSc/B.
Pharm/BS degree or equivalent degree Candidates with B.
E/BTech degrees can optionally get an MSc degree by fulfilling necessary requirements.
Biology
Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on written test marks, CV and Scientific Write-up
For PhD: Masters in Basic Science (MSc.
Physics/Chemistry/Any branch of Biology) or any professional Masters Degree (MPharma/MTech),or a > 4 year degree program (e.
g MBBS, BDS)
For I-PhD/M.
Sc: Bachelors in any Basic Science (Physics/Chemistry/Any branch of Biology) OR any 4-year degree program that awards a Bachelors degree including BTech, BE.
, BVSc, BPharma.
(4 year course)
Computer & Systems Sciences (including Communications and Applied Probability)
For PhD : BTech.
/BE/MTech/M.
E/MCA/M.
Sc or equivalent degree in Computer Science / Electronics & Communications Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related branches Exceptionally well qualified students with BTech/ B.
E/MTech/ME.
/MSc degrees in other disciplines may also be considered Exceptionally well qualified students with a three year degree in related subjects may be considered for I-PhD.
Candidates not holding a Masters degree and admitted to a PhD/Int PhD.

Fellowship
For PhD and I-PhD.
programmes, the academic year starts from August 1, every year The academic year for MSc programme begins from July 1, every year
Ph.
D Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 25,000/- (enhanced to Rs 28,000/- after registration)
I-PhD Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 16,000/- for the first year.
At the end of the first year, upon satisfactory performance, the fellowship is enhanced to Rs 25,000/- per month (further raised to Rs 28,000/- after registration for PhD)
MSc.
(Biology) Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 16000/-
MSc (Wildlife Biology & Conservation) Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 12000/-
