  • Drive Commercial Business performance thru focus on regional KPIs ie.

    Revenue, Trade spends and credit control & performance drivers and translate business strategy into impact on profitability, while ensuring right business issues and opportunities are prioritized and actioned Proactively manage P&L thru the O&R process - NSV/BTL/TTL and work with COO and Sales head to deliver opportunities and mitigate risks in line with region strategy Provide sound financial analysis (including ad-hoc analytics) on performance across geographies and propose action plans and alternatives (if required) to improve continuously Understand developments in the external environment to manage volatility and course correct ensuring no surprises to top management at the year-end and minimum variance from the O&R Identify strategies for key competitors thru Shadow P&L and review Diageo plans against them to stay ahead of the curve.

    Establish and follow clinical rhythm for Innovation / Renovation Reviews and Demand Productivity Align strategy on moving away from negative/ low margin SKUs for Civil markets and have an aligned position with the CCO and VP CF Partner with COO and S&OP team to identify tail SKUs and work towards elimination of the same to ease the stress on supply chain and optimize the shelf space in retail
  • Lead and work collaboratively with business partners and HO teams to formulate the annual operating plan for the region - in line with long term strategic plan and in context of the external environment, while having an understanding of factors affecting performance trajectory beyond the current financial year Translate brand and channel pricing strategy into annual plan, while having a regional view of NSV, Price mix and Trade investments.

    Partner with commercial to develop customer P&L's, to ensure business target delivery
  • Partner with NRM to optimize BTL spends through insights, aiming at improving in market execution of India NRM practices Enhance governance on TTL M&E execute in partnership with VP - Commercial Finance thru a National Process framework, drive M&E and hold business partners to account in applying outcomes Lead Distributor / Bonder performance management across Wholesale/ Distributor markets through ROI monitoring models
  • Establish Key Accounts governance in-line with the Global Reserve Model framework, including classification of Key Accounts and ascertaining spends at a customer level.

    Ensure investments are constantly challenged and channeled into the right key accounts through engagement on measurement and evaluation with COO and Luxury team
  • Drive productivity in Demand P&L cost lines including Govt levies, Trade spends, S&D and Overheads Work with senior management to identify opportunities to drive value for the business Drive rigor with commercial teams on liquidation of aged corporation inventory to avoid incurring demurrage in corporation markets.

    Evaluate and review overheads of the Region including commercial overheads to drive spend efficiencies Partner with S&OP and Supply on monthly governance on the in-market SLOB inventory, to avoid incurring write off Develop liquidation plan in partnership with Commercial and drive actions
  • Implementation and governance of Franchise Operating Model including commercial negotiation and Contracting, Specific focus on Franchise health and system profitability including opportunity for new brand introduction, pricing strategy, liaising with the cross functional stakeholders to hold the model together and effective Enhance visibility and right level of engagement from stakeholders through periodic BPM process.

  • Understand multiple regulatory framework and engage and support RTM Changes / Annual policy changes Demonstrate deep understanding of the state policies and how these impacts the business on both demand and supply side Analyze the financial impact on the P&L, Pricing and Supply and convert the insights into actions to minimize impact/ maximize potential opportunities Coordinated working with CR and COO in making representations to State Excise on various policy inputs and advocacy issues resulting from policy announcements
  • Act as the budget custodian/steward in managing expenditure (trade spends, activation spends etc.

    ) and providing cost control in line with annual plans
  • Collaborate with NRM/Sales team to mitigate any potential policy impact/ support productivity initiatives Continue to hold tight financial governance in key decisions on pricing & trade investment to support Commercial organization Evaluate all pricing opportunities vs competition and continuously work towards margin improvement Drive compliance to Global minimum Pricing for Civil channel.

Exemplary Risk Management
  • Collaborate with Tax and Legal functions for swift resolution of litigation matters relating to VAT assessments, state RTM changes and minimize potential tax liabilities Partner with Legal for old matters including closed Unit issues, monetization activity
  • Lead the creation of a robust control environment, ensuring processes are in place to capture any control weaknesses and take effective actions to ensure the business operates within the appropriate levels of risks Work cross functionally to generate richer insights for effective decision making Liaison and facilitate with the External and Internal audits in successful completion of the audits and ensure the actions are tracked and implemented.

  • Establish robust inventory monitoring process at the Distributor/ Wholesale/ Corporation markets and continuously improve quality of Inventory Engage with Commercial and S&OP to drive actions to reduce provisioning as well as release blocked working capital Drive and own end to end C Forms management and partner with the commercial team in driving accountability for the C Forms process to ensure zero cash outflow
Strong Financial Control and effective Systems and Processes
  • Create strategy and drive continuous improvement in credit risk management Own and lead credit risk management processes and influence business on good practices and compliance with the policy.

    Work with the business to generate market insights and drive improvement in customer credit terms and overdue management Drive credit risk mitigation through improvement in AR ageing quality of Civil markets by institutionalizing rigorous follow up mechanism, adequate representations, and various other interventions Monitor credit recovery cell by working closely with the Commercial / Legal team for a business with very high working capital intensity
  • Ensure that the reporting is compliant and carry out reviews to enable robust sign-off of all relevant financial information Drive actions from the insights on reasons for variance in the analysis against plan & prior periods and actively pursue actions to course correct.

    Continuous improvement of quality of closing Establish monthly governance review on the month-end BTL and TTL provisioning sanity and eliminate volatility
  • Creation of right controls and governance mechanism around balance sheet reviews Lead and drive actions arising from Trial Balance review to eliminate unsupported recoverable and capture all potential liabilities Review of open Marketing PO's to enable reinvestment of trapped budgets partner with respective functions to drive closure of old ageing items (GR/IR & advances).

  • Leading a team of Finance professionals, responsibility for their capability thru the 70:20:10 learning model and maintain healthy engagement / NPS scores
  • Build capability of Commercial Finance Business Partners towards self-governance thru the Cluster MFR calendar Commence simple dashboards on Trade Spend management, Outlet and Segment laddering principles
  • Facilitate and own the talent review process L5+ (critical and top performers as priority 1 and all other talent groups as priority 2 IDP reviews on quarterly basis
